    The 2026 Virginia Black History Month Gala

    Presented by the Virginia Black History Month Association (VaBHMA)

    The Virginia Black History Month Association proudly presents the 2026 Virginia Black History Month Gala, taking place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.

    This signature event honors Black history, excellence, and community leadership through an evening of reflection, celebration, and connection.

    2026 Keynote Speaker

    We are honored to welcome Emmy-nominated actor Kadeem Hardison as our 2026 keynote speaker. Best known for his iconic role as the brilliant “math wiz” on A Different World, Kadeem Hardison portrayed the lived experience of students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)—a role that helped shape national conversations around Black education and culture.

    His distinguished career includes groundbreaking work in film and television, including White Men Can’t Jump, The Sixth Man, Teenage Bounty Hunters, Love Is, Moonhaven, and more.

    NMPMA 2026 – 61st National Spring Council

    Dates: April 16–19, 2026

    The National Montford Point Marine Association, Inc. will hold its 61st National Spring Council as an in-person event April 16–19, 2026. Registration is now open, and all principals, officers, and key personnel should begin planning to attend IAW bylaws.

    61st Annual National Convention — Baltimore, MD

    Join the National Montford Point Marine Association for its 61st Annual National Convention, a multi-day gathering bringing together members, supporters, and partners from across the country. The convention features official Association business, leadership meetings, receptions, and signature recognition events celebrating the legacy and continued impact of the Montford Point Marines.

    Events during the week include host chapter activities, the President’s Reception, the Veterans Expo, and the National Awards Banquet & Gala.

    Veterans Expo – 61st National Convention

    The National Montford Point Marine Association invites veteran service organizations, businesses, and community partners to participate in the Veterans Expo, held during the 61st National Convention. This public event connects veterans, families, and supporters with essential resources, services, and community support.

    Participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with veterans and their families, expand outreach, build partnerships, and take part in a historic celebration honoring 61 years of the National Montford Point Marine Association.

    Join us to honor the Montford Point Marines (1942–1949) and their legacy of service. During the ceremony, a Congressional Gold Medal replica will be presented posthumously to a Montford Point Marine’s family. Guest Speaker: TBA.

    Inclement weather plan: Ceremony relocates to Bldg. M104, Camp Johnson (limited seating; base access required).
